In a significant crackdown on academic dishonesty, the Barpali police in Odisha have arrested 12 individuals, including 10 students, in connection with a question paper leak at Barpali College in Bargarh district.
Among those arrested was Alok Sahu, a clerk at Naktideul Degree College in Sambalpur, along with students from Vikas Degree College and Barpali College. The leak involved the Political Science question paper for the third-semester exam, which was allegedly photocopied at a local Xerox shop before being distributed to the students.
The issue came to light after an inspection at Barpali College led the Principal, Jayanti Dash, to file a formal complaint with the Barpali police. During the investigation, it was revealed that the leaked paper originated from Naktideul Degree College in Sambalpur.
The police swiftly arrested the students who had purchased the leaked paper, as well as the person responsible for selling it.
Following the arrests, the accused were presented in court on Thursday and remanded to judicial custody. The investigation into the matter is ongoing, with authorities determined to uncover further details surrounding the leak and ensure accountability in academic processes.
